20-year Marketing Veteran Tony Mohr Steps into President and CEO Role of Leading B2B Demand Marketing Firm

Waterloo Region, ON, April 6, 2021 – B2B demand marketing firm Quarry announced today that, as part of a planned leadership transition, Chief Operating Officer (COO) Tony Mohr has assumed the role of President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) following the retirement of Ken Whyte from the presidential role. The transition comes on the heels of a successful management buyout in October 2020.

Board Chair Alan Quarry noted, “Tony is the ideal President and CEO for Quarry at this time in the firm’s history. From a Board perspective, we sought an innovative leader who has the skills to navigate the firm’s future. Tony possesses both the vision necessary to evolve Quarry to meet the ever-changing needs of clients and the market, as well as the pragmatism required to manage the day-to-day realities of the business.”

Mohr joined Quarry in a full-time capacity in October 2007 as a Senior Client Service Advisor, taking on increasingly senior roles within the organization’s account management group. He led several large accounts for the organization including overseeing marketing programs for Fortune 1000 enterprises. He was promoted in 2013 to Managing Director and responsible for establishing the organization’s Experience-Innovation Insights practice. From there, Mohr became Managing Director of Quarry’s Digital Customer Experience Solutions practice in 2017 and transitioned into the role of COO in 2019. Since then, Mohr has worked closely with Whyte to successfully lead the organization’s operations and navigate the challenges presented by the pandemic. Prior to joining Quarry, Mohr worked in wireless telecommunications and consumer packaged goods. He has a general management MBA with a concentration in marketing management from the Richard Ivey School of Business.

“This is an exciting event in the long arc of Quarry’s 47-year history and my own personal journey,” said Mohr. “Along with my fellow shareholders and the Quarry team, I’m honoured to be able to continue the legacy of strong values, beliefs and commitment to our clients that has made Quarry a great organization. It is a privilege to lead the team forward. We will continue to pursue innovative solutions for our clients and remain progressive in terms of our talent, culture, capabilities and operations.”

Mohr succeeds Ken Whyte, who joined Quarry in 1990 and has served as the firm’s President since 2007. He will remain as an advisor to the new President and CEO until the end of FY2021 (Sept. 30, 2021), providing strategic counsel and guidance borne of his years of experience. Whyte will also continue to serve as a member of the Quarry Board of Directors.

“I can’t think of a better candidate to succeed me,” stated Whyte. “Tony is exceptionally well-suited to step into the position of President and CEO, bringing robust business management expertise, exceptional leadership skills, financial acumen and a deep understanding of B2B marketing and Quarry culture to the role.”

This appointment is another integral component of the company’s succession plan and is at the direction of the Quarry Board of Directors. It follows the transfer of full Quarry ownership to Mohr and Quarry Managing Directors Meredith Fuller, Richard Hill and Mandey Moote in December 2020.
