Practice Lead, B2B Research and Strategic Insights

Are you passionate about the art and science of creating great buying experiences in B2B markets? Do you have deep expertise in customer and buyer research, strategic insights, innovation and marketing strategy? Do you have the experiences, skill sets and enthusiasm to work with a multi-disciplinary team to conduct research, and to develop strategic and tactically-actionable insights that fuel innovation and the design and delivery of better customer experiences? Quarry is currently looking for a Practice Lead for our Experience-Innovation Insights team. We’re looking for someone who has a unique mix of capabilities, aptitudes and experiences that range from strategic to tactical, who can engage target audiences with compelling thought leadership, can facilitate new business conversations, and then apply their years of knowledge and hands-on experience in insight and strategy consulting assignments to help our B2B clients create more effective branding and business-building marketing strategies, buying experiences and sales conversations.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Collaborate with Quarry business development leaders on new business growth and client acquisition for Quarry through thought leadership initiatives and sales conversations
  • Help set the independent research agenda for the organization and “think the customer ahead,” anticipating emergent customer insight needs, and piloting solutions
  • Lead the capture of key learnings, takeaways and findings from consulting engagements that are relevant to thought leadership and/or developing additional business.
  • Promote and share thought leadership resources in appropriate formats and appropriate channels, including both online (e.g. blogs, videos, webinars, etc.) and offline (e.g. presentations, keynotes, etc.)
  • Engage in social selling and maintaining a presence within relevant social channels
  • Identify and participate in new business development strategy, prospect conversations, solution design, methodology and research mode recommendations, contract negotiations and onboarding of new engagements
  • Lead insight and strategy engagements, multi-client research collaboratives and standalone market analysis and insights report development and sales
  • Lead engagement kick-offs with clients and lead the delivery of final work product, within timeline, scope and budget, working with and guiding the contributions of the team
  • Lead planning and preparation for and execution of applicable field research, including both qualitative and quantitative modes, using functional experience and in partnership with supporting third-party contractors/vendors
  • Lead and guide data analysis efforts, including consulting and collaborating with the team
  • Lead the development of relevant research outputs (e.g. reports) and CX tools (e.g. personas, buying journey maps, segmentation frameworks)
  • Collaborate and guide clients through a strategy formulation process (e.g. CX visioning, innovation strategy, marketing and/or experience strategy) based on insights developed through the innovation insight process
  • Lead the professional development of practice team members and help them grow their skills, knowledge and capabilities

What we’re seeking:

  • Experience in the areas of customer experience innovation, design and delivery; customer insight, segmentation modeling, personas, buyer journey mapping, digital user experience design, digital marketing and brand building
  • Experience in qualitative and quantitative research methods and processes
  • Experience designing research-based solutions for client innovation challenges
  • Experience developing thought leadership artifacts (e.g. presentations, articles, videos)
  • A solution-oriented mentality; exceptional reasoning, analysis and problem solving skills and the ability to communicate ideas clearly and concisely
  • Effective strategic and tactical thinker
  • Excellent interpersonal, project and teamwork skills, including experience managing people and leading a team, and a demonstrated ability to work consultatively
  • Ability to interact effectively with senior level executives and decision makers at enterprise-scale companies
  • Experience conducting new business development, negotiating new business contracts and closing sales opportunities
  • A self-starting, proactive individual
  • A creative and inquisitive mindset
  • An entrepreneurial spirit and an optimistic attitude

Required experience:

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in social sciences, anthropology, psychology, marketing research, marketing, management science, or engineering
  • Business degree/diploma or related coursework (e.g. strategy, market research, leadership, statistics etc.) considered an asset
  • Minimum 7 years experience in a consultative or senior leadership role
